IBM Study: Three power plays of leaders

Learn how they are staying ahead in Big Data & Analytics, Cloud, Mobile and Social
On August 21, 2014, IBM announced the results of a new study entitled Raising the game: The IBM Business Tech Trends Study‘.  In the previous study, the Pacesetters, or leading companies, were those who were adopting these technologies faster.  That is no longer the case as big data and analytics, cloud, mobile and social have gone mainstream – they are now each used by 7 in 10 enterprises.  However, Pacesetters are still keeping their edge, as 9 in 10 are gaining competitive advantage from these technologies.  So what’s their secret playbook?

It turns out they have three characteristics that help set them apart:

DNA_Icon  Partnering is in their DNA

Leading companies partner more and partner more creatively.  They are 2 to 3x as likely to engage citizen developers for skills transfer and start-ups for steering IT direction.

Analytics_IconAnalytics is their fuel

Armed with mature analytics capabilities and skills, leading companies run their enterprises on insights.  For nearly 7 in 10, analytical insights are an integral part of decision-making.

Integration_IconIntegration is their breakaway move

Big data & analytics, cloud, mobile and social are all powerful on their own.  But leading companies are aiming to deliver a bigger punch – they are 4 to 7x more likely to combine the technologies.

Is it paying off?
